Do's & Don'ts
ThreatAnalysis is a public-records and safety tool — not a consumer reporting agency. Here is how you may and may not use the information you find.
Do
- Use ThreatAnalysis to help keep yourself, your family, and your property safe.
- Look up someone you plan to meet from an online marketplace, dating site, or classified ad.
- Reconnect with old friends, relatives, or lost contacts.
- Verify the identity and background of a person for your own personal knowledge and safety.
- Research a vehicle, plate, or person as part of a lawful security or investigative activity.
- Learn what public-records information about you is available so you can stay informed.
Don't
- Do not use ThreatAnalysis to make decisions about consumer credit, insurance, or loans.
- Do not use it to evaluate someone for employment, promotion, reassignment, or retention.
- Do not use it for tenant screening or any housing-eligibility decision.
- Do not use it to determine eligibility for a government license, benefit, or scholarship.
- Do not use the information to stalk, harass, threaten, or intimidate anyone.
- Do not use it for any purpose restricted by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) or other law.
